Les Miserables

it was the big hoo haa of Susan Boyle, the 47 year old scottish lady who surprised everyone by her stunning performance of the song from Les Miserables, "I Dreamed a Dream", at "Britains Got Talent 2009" that led me search for more songs from the musical from you tube...and found the set of videos of the 10th Anniversary Concert...and want to share a couple of the songs that are now my favorites....

[Les Miserables] 10th anniversary - I Dreamed a Dream - performed by Ruthie Henshall as "Fantine"...her voice, the expressions, the lyrics of the song...brought me to tears...

[Les Miserables] 10th anniversary - On My Own - performed by Lea Salonga as "Eponine"...just simply beautiful....

this being one of ming's favorite musicals, he insisted that i should consider watching it...but no...as much as i love the songs and the singing was beautiful...the story line and settings is just so sad, i might really have to bring a few boxes of tissues into the theatre....

ooh thanks for posting these videos! Les Miz was in Sg when i was a student (too long ago!) there were heavily discounted student tix for a matinee to encourage students to watch it. i went and used up all my tissue paper! but it moved me so much i went to buy another student tix to watch it again! for a long time after that, i wanted to name my daughter Eponine! lol!
Crying is theraphetic right? :)

I want to watch a musical again, sometime, eventually.
hey, cats is coming...or was it here already? :)
Cats came, went, and coming again ha ? :)

I want to watch (i don't know what), hopefully when I am able to leave E at home without her waking up crying big time in the morning.
wow...TWICE!! must be very cheap the student tix here? we also bought student tix in oz but could only afford to watch each musical once...and i heard there are people who go such extra miles, to actually take overnight train ride say from melbourne to sydney to stay a weekend just to watch a musical...
I watched it TWICE in Singapore. I prefer this to the Phantom of the Opera. I think that one was highly overrated and incredibly boring. I should go and read the book though cos the musical might not have done justice to the book.
ming said the same...he fell asleep during phantom!! :) he also preferred miss saigon but he cried...oops...he said he did not cry, he only teared...
I watched Cats in London in the 1980s hahaha ..
Then, I remembered I didn't watch Phantom coz of the 'ghost' and Les Miserables coz it was so miserable - we were in the middle of a Contiki Europe tour then .. *sigh* those were the young & carefree days man!
yes ah...i so miss those carefree days!! hehehe.... :)
it's my ALL TIME favourite MUSICAL.
I have the CD if you would like to listen to all the songs...;-)
thanks...think i am happy to watch it from youtube lah...very sad the songs, cannot listen to the CD all the time :)
