ever since she was re-homed, we have visited a number of times during her first year with the new family to check on her, and made sure she was ok etc. and after that first year, we would still visit her on her birthday...to give her a birthday treat of smoked pig ear...and just to have a time to celebrate and remember our time together....but this year, ming and i were talking about visiting when it was closer to her birthday, and decided against it...we really think it is time to really move on from this chapter of our lives, not only for us, but Amy as well as she is now in a wonderful home and environment, surrounded by a family that love and dote on her...she is living a much better life now than when she was with us :)

it is Amy's birthday tomorrow...i made the mistake of reading her old blog and going thru her photos...i especially loved these ones...of gabe and his old furry sister...



i always thought that gabe was too young to be affected when we re-homed amy...or when pikachu the hammy passed...then he always tell us that he misses amy...sometimes even asked me if we could have her back, which i said no, once done, cannot look back. as kris is now getting older, she has been asking to keep pets like hamsters, rabbits, kittens and puppies...which knowing papa ming, sure not approve..but we still joke about the possibility anyway, and teased kris to ask papa ming...gabe sometimes joined in the joke, said yes to having a pet...but one evening, we had a playdate at Wendy and Peter's home...and auntie Yeeju brought along their new pet hamsters...the kids had a great time, esp. kris, playing with the hamsters....that night during our car ride home, kris kept asking to have hamsters as well...but gabe, suddenly became so serious, and said no, he did not want any pets....when we asked him for the reasons, he said, "i dun want to see them die, i will be sad..."....till now, his reason unchanged...he loves animals, he loves hamsters, rabbits, dogs and cats but he does not want to have any....till now, he will still tell me that he misses amy...he tells his kakak about amy as kakak has never met amy, it was way before her employment with us...he also tells kakak about pikachu, how he was the one who named the hamster...etc etc.

it was heart-breaking to hear him talk about it...esp. when he says he misses amy and asks if we can visit...

but our hearts ache...after every visits when we had to leave....i really think....it is time to move on....

so here...just want to wish my dear babygirl a very happy 8th birthday...amy girl....

speaking of art works...it is the end of term 3 for gabe and he has brought back some pretty interesting drawings/paintings/whatever from his arts enrichment classes at school...

this is week 20...which means i will be having the detailed scan this week and the gender of the baby will be more or less confirmed, i guess...the last scan at Dr. Paul he has kinda guessed that this might be a girl but he could not be sure without the detail scan...the dilemma of names for either a girl or a boy is the same...we have the english name for a girl, but not for a boy...but we have the chinese name for a boy, but having trouble coming up with one for a girl...i know i should leave the chinese names for the grandparents but this did not work when we first had gabe, they came up with all sort of funny sounding names and we ended up having to come up with the chinese name as well!! so i guess it will be the same this time...

came across a few websites for female chinese names and shortlisted a few...



i espeically like "Jia Li" (as gabe is Jia Jie, although gabe's Jia is "family" but close enough, i guess)...and "Hui Ying"...or i can jumpo them up and call her: "Jia Ying" or "Hui Li"....hmmm.....but i cannot decide which one of them sound better with the surname, "Lo"....appreciate any suggestion, thank you in advance :)
