Just In Case You Ever Wonder
by Max Lucado (one of my favourite authors...the below is just an excerpt from his book):

"I knew in my heart God had sent someone very wonderful for me to take care of.
I'll always love you.
I'll always hug you.
I'll always be on your side.
And I want you to know that
just in case you ever wonder. ...
Most of all, I'll teach you about God.
He loves you.
He protects you.
He and His angels always watch over you.

And God wants me to make sure you know
about heaven. It's a wonderful place.
There are no tears there.
No monsters.
No mean people.

You never have to say 'goodbye,'
or 'good night,'
or 'I'm hungry.'
You never get cold or sick or afraid.

In heaven you are so close to God that He will
hug you, just like I hug you. It's going to be
wonderful. I will be there, too. I promise.
We will be there together, forever.
Remember that...
just in case you ever wonder."

I'll Lend You A Child
by Edgar Guest

"I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said.
For you to love - while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his smiles to gladden you,
And should this stay be brief
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I've looked this world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd
Life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor count the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to
Take him back again?"

I fancied that I heard then say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that come
And try to understand."
